IP Video: IP Video Lenses and Lighting
Module Length: 1 Credit Hour
Approved for CEUs by: Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, New Jersey, North Carolina
In this module, we will be taking a close look at two related topics: lenses and lighting. The selection of the correct lens to use in a particular Video Surveillance System application is a critical, but often overlooked, component. Many problems with IP-based VSS can be traced to the improper use of lenses and/or improper lighting.
It is important that you think about what you are trying to accomplish with a particular camera and lens combination. To meet that goal, this module will describe the different types of lenses, how to apply combine various lens and camera types to product optimum results, compare and contrast the concepts of Focal Length, Field of View, and Depth of Field, and also how to apply basic light principles to develop detection systems that use both visible and infrared light sources.
