IP Video: Networking
Module Length: 1 Credit Hour
Approved for CEUs by: Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, New Jersey, South Dakota
In this module, we will be looking at how IP-based video surveillance takes advantage of networking capabilities to expand the functionality and effectiveness of a video security system. Specifically, we'll look at network structure and configuration, wireless networking, and some of the hardware devices and software applications that drive IP-based video surveillance installations.
After completing this module, you will be able to explain the basic operation of a computer network and understand key terms associated with networking and integration. You will also become familiar with basic networking structures, configurations and protocols, and be able to discuss how network components are integrated to product a converged video security system. Finally, we will review the advantages of using network-based video cameras, controllers and storage devices.
